Ceramics Workshop: Using History as Inspiration:
CERM 3222 - 3 Studio Credits
In this studio course we will study the history
of ceramics through making. We will select pottery from different
cultures and remake this pottery to better understand the aesthetics
and technical processes from that culture. We will work with all
ranges of the ceramic medium, including low and high fire ceramics,
wheel throwing, hand building and slip casting techniques. The studio
work will be accompanied with daily slide lectures and technicaldemonstrations.
This course will culminate with a modest exhibition of the work displayed
in a time line, so we can walk throughthe history of ceramics. Prerequisites:
6 credits CERM
This workshop will be co-taught with Margret Bohls.
